Helping you to manage the day to day tasks in your life

Tenancy Support

Wherever you live, we can assist you to manage the day to day tasks in your life. These are some of the things we can provide help and support with:

Help you with benefits/money management

  • Provide assistance to deal with other agencies/organisations
  • Support you to stay active
  • Help you keep your tenancy and organise your bills
  • Advocate on your behalf
  • Help you learn new skills
  • We can also offer specialist support for people with dementia.
  • Housing for Older People

We have 3 Sheltered Housing schemes, one in Blaina, two in Tredegar and an extraCare scheme in Ebbw Vale (extraCare is sheltered housing with on-site care). These schemes consist of modern, self-contained 1 and 2 bedroom flats close to local facilities including shops, doctor’s surgeries and bus stops. Most of these schemes also benefit from communal facilities such as a laundry, guest room, communal lounge and landscaped gardens.

In sheltered housing we charge very reasonable rents and we are happy to accommodate anyone who receives housing benefit or other welfare benefits. No bond is needed.

To live in sheltered housing you need to be over 55, although we will make exceptions based on personal circumstances.

Housing With or Without Support

While living in sheltered housing you can receive assistance from our dedicated support team but even if you do not need any support you are welcome in sheltered housing, where you can still benefit from the additional safety and security it provides.

Support is funded by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and is free.

Scheme Manager Service

If you live in our sheltered housing you also benefit from a Scheme Manager, our Scheme Managers are on hand to take care of the day to day running of the building and can help you with issues relating to your tenancy or rent.

Emergency Alarm

If you live in sheltered housing your property will have an emergency alarm, you can use this service to call for help, the alarm puts you through to an emergency control centre that is available 24/7 365 days of the year. Help is always on hand!

Activities/Events and Day Trips

Whether you live in sheltered housing or receive support in your own home, we organise regular social events, such as craft classes, bingo nights, day-trips and entertainment evenings that will be open to you. We encourage everyone to become involved if they want to and welcome your feedback and comments on our service.
