Councillors Visit Sunnyside Wellness Village to See Progress Firsthand
The visitors included Deputy Leader Councillor Jane Gebbie, Councillor Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Development and Housing; Councillor Eugene Caparros, Cabinet Member for Resources; and Martin Morgans, Interim Head of Operations and Community Services.
They were welcomed on site by representatives from Linc Cymru, Pobl Group, and Wynne Construction, who are working in partnership to deliver the new homes. The councillors were also shown around the Bridgend Health and Wellbeing Centre, which is being delivered by Wynne Construction on behalf of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
Although the homes are still under construction, the group had the opportunity to step inside one of the new four-bedroom properties to view the timber frame construction, spacious internal layout, and large windows that will make the homes feel light and airy.
Once complete, the development will deliver 59 high-quality affordable homes—a mix of bungalows, houses, and apartments—alongside a state-of-the-art health centre. Designed with wellbeing in mind, the site will also include a community growing space, children’s play space, and a landscaped courtyard with fruit trees and green spaces to encourage outdoor living and support biodiversity.
The councillors were also able to see the significant progress being made inside the new health and wellbeing centre, which will bring GP services, a pharmacy, dental care and specialist clinics together under one roof.
The project is being delivered with the support of Bridgend County Borough Council and the Welsh Government, as part of a shared commitment to creating healthier, more connected communities.
Located opposite Bridgend Life Centre, open green spaces and close to the town centre, the Sunnyside Wellness Village is set to become a thriving community hub where homes and health go hand in hand.
Speaking after the visit, Scott Sanders, Chief Executive of Pobl Group, said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome members of Bridgend County Borough Council to the Sunnyside Wellness Village. Their enthusiasm for the project reflects what we’re working hard to deliver—a vibrant, well-connected community that brings together homes, healthcare and green space. We’re proud to be part of such a forward-thinking development that places wellbeing at its heart.”
