Llys Yr Efail is a housing scheme for older people located just off the High Street in the town of Blaina in the local authority area of Blaenau Gwent. The building contains 35 self-contained one and two bedroom flats over 3 floors and a lower ground floor containing communal facilities, with a lift to all floors. The building is set in landscaped grounds and has a CCTV door entry system.

 

There is a Scheme Manager on duty 37.5 hours per week, based on site 3 days per week. Outside of these hours there is a 24 hour alarm system connected to a Control Centre. In Blaenau Gwent there is also a dedicated Older Persons Support worker who can help tenants’ manage their own homes and access other services.

There is parking for 14 vehicles on site and a large public car park at the top of the drive. The communal facilities include a communal lounge with a large screen TV; hobbies room with a pool table and darts board; kitchen; laundry room; guest room for visitors and an indoor garden area with seating. The scheme has its own communal gardens which are maintained by Linc, and tenants can contribute to the landscaping if they wish. The Tenants Association meet every month and organise day trips and other various activities.

There is a dentist and doctors surgery within 200 metres; chemist, shops, bus stop and Post Office within 500 metres. In close proximity there are several places of worship, 2 community centres, senior citizens hall and police station.
